Orientation Program for the First Batch of Householders

The Colombo Suburban Railway Project conducted an orientation program for the first batch of householders in the new housing scheme at Lakhirusevana, on 03-03-2020 at Sri Vishuddharamaya Temple, Dematagoda, Colombo. This program was organized to upgrade the living standards of this community, and adapt their lifestyle to vertical living. Officials from CMC solid waste management unit, MOH, SL- Police, experts from similar projects, and PMU provided guidance and assistance by addressing anticipated issues and common problems that they may encounter in the new settlement.

Conducting orientation programs for new settlers are an important element of the resettlement effort. UDA along with the PMU provided guidance and assistance to the PAPs by focusing on anticipated issues and common problems that they may encounter in their new settlement. The program delivered information about the new housing units and its facilities, advice on utility services and obtaining utility services, overview on schooling, security issues, living environment, healthcare, transport; and advice on everyday living.  CSRP hopes that these programs will reduce the anxiety of affected households and enable them to adapt to their new neighborhood and its surrounding easily, and also provide the opportunity for the new settlers to integrate with the host community without any difficulty.
